ACSTA Celebrates AGM and Convention

The Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association celebrated a successful Annual General Meeting and Convention, Taking the Measure #WWJD, on November 15 - 17, 2013.

The convention featured keynote speaker, Rev. Raymond Carey.

Catholic trustees and administrators in attendance also heard from Education Minister Jeff Johnson.

At the AGM, Elk Island Catholic Trustee Tony Sykora was acclaimed for another term as ACSTA President, while Calgary Catholic Trustee, Serafino Scarpino, was acclaimed form another term as Vice-President.

Trustees also celebrated a commissioning ceremony led by Bishop Henry on Friday evening of the Convention.

2013 ACSTA AGM & Convention - Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the 2013 ACSTA AGM & Convention.

This year’s AGM and Convention, Taking the Measure #WWJD, will feature keynote speaker Rev. Raymond P. Carey who will join trustees in an exploration of Catholic schools today under the framework of the Gospel principles applied in the phrase What Would Jesus Do? The core of Jesus’s relationship with the disciples will be the focal point for coming to understand how our Catholic school communities reflect and need to grow in Catholicity.

Education Act Regulatory Review

Alberta Education has created an online consultation for the Education Act Regulatory Review. These discussions are on regulations that will support the Education Act once it is proclaimed into force.

Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association Announces Winners of G.R.A.C.E. Student Short Video Contest
Videos explore what being in a Catholic school means from a student perspective

The Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association (ACSTA) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2013 G.R.A.C.E. (God’s Riches Alive in Catholic Education) student video contest.

The contest, in its first year, received 41 entries from across the province. The entries presented a a vibrant and unique view of what Catholic education brings to Alberta’s students.

“We are extremely excited and encouraged by the response to the GRACE project. Our Catholic schools are vibrant and discernible in the lives of our students and their stories of faith. We look forward to sharing with pride these videos with all members of our Catholic education community in Alberta and Northwest Territories. We hope this is a project we can continue in the future,” said ACSTA President Tony Sykora.

Dr. Richard Gaillardetz 2013 Blueprints Talks Now Available Online

We are pleased to be able to share with you the presentations given by Dr. Richard Gaillardetz from the 2013 ACSTA Blueprints Conference. At the conference, Dr. Gaillardetz spoke on the theme of Spiritual Wisdom for Ordinary Christians.

It is with great joy and blessings that we celebrate with the rest of our Holy Church in welcoming Pope Francis I as the successor of Peter and Vicar of Christ! We ask all members of the Catholic Education community join us in prayer for His Holiness and the whole Church as we, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, move forward with Pope Frances to set the world on fire with the Holy Spirit and move to bring all people to Christ!
