Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association Elects New President and Vice President

Edmonton, AB – The Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association (ACSTA) during its Annual General Meeting this weekend elected Adriana LaGrange from Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools as ACSTA President, and John Tomkinson from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools as ACSTA Vice-President.

ACSTA President Adriana LaGrange has served three terms as Trustee with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools since 2007, of which she has served as both Board Chair and Vice Chair. Ms LaGrange brings a vast array of Catholic education experience to the Board of Directors’ table. “I truly believe that faith permeation within an inclusive learning environment enriches the educational experience of all students and provides them with a strong foundation to build upon in their daily lives,” said President LaGrange. “I am ready, willing and able to serve. Together we will continue the amazing legacy of Catholic education in Alberta.”

ACSTA Vice-President John Tomkinson has served two terms as Trustee with St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools, where he served two terms as Board Chair. “Through increased positive advocacy and modeling Catholic values, I believe that we can confidently advance Catholic education in Alberta,” said Vice-President Tomkinson. “Together with the entire ACSTA Board of Directors we will work hard to ensure families have access to quality Catholic education.”

ACSTA acknowledges Past-President Tony Sykora and Past Vice-President Serafino Scarpino for their dedicated and unwavering service to Catholic education throughout Alberta, Yukon and North West Territories. “Working as a team, Tony Sykora and Serafino Scarpino demonstrated daily their passion for ensuring all students have access to quality Catholic education and that all students are respected and treated as gifts from God,” said Executive Director, Dean Sarnecki. “On behalf of everyone at ACSTA and within the Catholic community, we would like to thank them for their tireless dedication.”
